Kiwoom Heroes’ Jang Jae-young (21) achieved the win requirement for the first time since his debut.
Jang Jae-young started the game against the NC Dinos of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Friday and pitched 5⅓ innings of two-hit ball with four walks and seven strikeouts.
After getting leadoff hitter Son As-seob to ground out to shortstop in the first inning, Jang struck out Seo Ho-cheol on three pitches and got Park Min-woo to ground out to second base to end the inning with a triple play. In the second inning, Kwon Hee-dong singled and Jason Martin walked to put runners on first and second with no outs, but Yoon Hyung-joon, Chun Jae-hwan, and Park Se-hyuk all struck out to get out of the jam.
After giving up a leadoff walk to Kim Joo-won in the third, Jang Jae-young was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs, but he induced a flyout to Seo Ho-cheol and struck out Park Min-woo to end the threat. In the top of the fourth, he walked Martin to load the bases, but induced Yoon Hyung-joon to fly out to end the inning.
After striking out three in the fifth, Jang Jae-young took the mound in the sixth. After getting leadoff hitter Son As-seob to fly out to left field, Jang walked Seo Ho-cheol and was replaced by Yang Hyun with one out in the top of the sixth with Kiwoom leading 2-0.
