T1 head coach Bae Sung-woong has stepped down after 10 months at the helm.
T1 President Jung Ho-yoon announced the news of Bae’s resignation through the organization’s social media channels on Aug. 8. According to the announcement, Bae expressed his intention to resign after the end of the first round of the regular season of the 2023 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Spring, accepting responsibility for the team’s poor performance, and the team respected his wishes and terminated his contract as of today.
Bae stepped down as T1’s head coach after 10 months, having spent his playing days with the organization and most of his coaching career with the same team. After serving as the second team coach, he joined the first team as a coach in the winter of 2021. He took over for former head coach Choi Sung-hoon ahead of the LoL World Championship (Rold Cup) last September. T1 finished as runners-up at the Rold Cup 메이저놀이터추천.
In this year’s LCK Spring Season, T1 finished the regular league with a 17-1 record and was considered a strong favorite to win the title, but the team lost to Genji in the finals 3-1 and finished as runners-up once again. During the first round of the Summer Season’s regular season, which Bae said he accepts responsibility for the poor performance, the team went 6-3 and finished in third place. T1 will immediately play their first game of the second round of the regular season against Genji at 3 p.m. today. T1 is expected to use coach Lim Jae-hyun as acting head coach until the end of the year. Lim joined T1 at the end of the year after working with Zenith and Talon Esports.
