The New York Yankees, who are currently riding a five-game winning streak and are 8-2 in their last 10 games, are getting ready to welcome back one injured player after another. This time, it’s Giancarlo Stanton, 34.
Stanton is scheduled to undergo a final examination of his injuries on Saturday, according to The Athletic.
If all goes well, Stanton could be available for a minor league rehab game this weekend, the report added.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone also noted that Stanton will play the outfield in the minors, not the designated hitter.
Stanton was sidelined with a left hamstring injury in mid-April, when he strained his left hamstring while stealing second base.
Since then, Stanton has been treating and resting, and is nearing the final stage of his rehabilitation, a minor league rehab assignment. He is expected to return in early June.
In 13 games prior to his injury, Stanton was batting .269 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, seven doubles, 14 runs scored, a .296 slugging percentage and an .854 OPS.
The New York Yankees are 30-20 over their last 24 days with a .600 winning percentage. They’re in third place in the American League East, which is good enough for a postseason berth.
Add to that the fact that Stanton is back to full health and paired with Aaron Judge (31), and the Yankees are in even better shape. 안전놀이터
