Manchester United are set to make a move for Mason Mount.

“Chelsea’s Mount is leaning towards a move to United and talks between the two clubs are expected to take place in due course,” David Onstead of The Athletic reported on Friday (April 25). 먹튀검증

Mount is a midfielder that Chelsea have pampered. The midfielder joined Chelsea’s youth system in 2005 and has steadily progressed through the ranks. The Blues had high hopes for him. He won four consecutive FA Youth Cups and was named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year in 2016-17. He then went out on loan to Pittesser and Derby County to gain experience.

He made his Chelsea first-team debut in the 2019-20 season. When Frank Lampard, who had coached Mount at Derby, took over at Chelsea, Mount was promoted to the first team. He was Lampard’s crown prince. Since his debut season, Mount has flourished, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 37 English Premier League (EPL) appearances. Last season, he finished 10-10 in the league with 11 goals and 10 assists.

He has been a key part of Chelsea’s midfield again this season. Mount has started 24 league games and has been a vital link in the offense. As the team has struggled, Mount hasn’t been performing as well, but he’s still a key resource.

However, it was recently reported that his contract was not renewed. He is currently under contract through June 2024. According to Spotrac, which tracks sports salaries, Mount’s weekly wage is £80,000 (approximately $120,000).

Mount’s demand is for three times that amount. According to the Daily Mail, “Mount wants to triple his weekly wages, but the club have offered far less than players like Raheem Sterling.” Sterling is currently Chelsea’s highest paid player, earning £325,000 a week (approximately $490 million). After failing to resolve their differences, Mourinho is preparing to say goodbye. He has appointed Neil Fewings as his new agent, signaling a move away.

Man United are the most likely suitors. However, there is a significant gap in the transfer fee. “Chelsea still want £80 million for Mount, but a contract extension is out of the question despite Mauricio Pochettino’s efforts,” says Fabrizio Romano, a journalist who follows European soccer. Man United want him,” the report said.

Mount is under contract until June 2024. It is unlikely that United would pay 130 million won for a player with one year left on his contract. “But United want something closer to £47.5 million,” explained Paul Hurst of The Times.

Clearly, manager Eric ten Hagh wants a player who can play an attacking role. Following Mount, Lee Kang-in has also been linked. If United were to sign Mount, it would reduce their chances of landing Lee. United have also been linked with Kim Min-Jae, Adrien Rabiot, and Harry Kane.
