Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho has arrived in South Korea.
Ronaldinho arrived at 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 8 at Incheon International Airport through Arrivals Gate E in Terminal 1. Ronaldinho touched down on Korean soil on Emirates flight EK322.
Along with Ronaldinho, three more legends will be visiting Korea. “Ronaldinho, Cannavaro, Materazzi and Cesar will arrive in the country on the 8th and 9th of this month,” Lasix City Group Korea said in a press release on June 6. They are scheduled to participate in youth soccer clinics, YouTube shoots, and experience Korean culture.
The first player to arrive in Korea was Ronaldinho. Eight years after his retirement, Ronaldinho’s popularity was still high. On this day, Incheon Airport was packed with fans who had heard the news of Ronaldinho’s arrival. According to officials, there were more than 200 fans.
Fans welcomed Ronaldinho in different ways. The most prominent jerseys were those of Brazil, but it was also not uncommon to see fans wearing Barcelona jerseys, the club he played for the longest, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) jerseys.
PSG has become one of the most sought-after clubs in the country for Lee’s transfer. They already have the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar on their roster, and they’ve been one of the favorites to land Lee this summer.
PSG is also where Ronaldinho made his first European debut. After making his professional debut in 1998 with Gremio in Brazil, Ronaldinho joined PSG in 2001. From then on, Ronaldinho was a midfielder who had no deficiencies in his Brazilian technique, flexibility, individuality, kicking, football sense, movement, and speed.
Despite it being his first time in Europe, Ronaldinho took off. In his first season, he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists, becoming a key part of the team’s offense. He followed that up with 12 goals and 10 assists in 2002-03, but a falling out with then-coach Luis Fernandes led to his departure. 꽁머니사이트
He then moved to Barcelona, where his talent reached its full potential. Ronaldinho spent five seasons with Barcelona, scoring 94 goals and providing 70 assists in 207 games. He went on to play for AC Milan, Flamengo, and Atletico Mineiro before ending his soccer career with Fluminense in 2015.
His national team career has been nothing short of spectacular. Ronaldinho was called up to the Brazilian national team in 1999 and has been a regular on the roster ever since. He was part of what was called the greatest lineup of all time. In addition to Ronaldo, the Brazilian team featured the likes of Rivaldo, Ricardo, Carlos, Lucio, Capoue, and Junior. With them, Ronaldinho won the 1999 Copa America in Paraguay and the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan.
Ronaldinho, along with Cannavaro, Materazzi and Cesar, who will arrive on September 9, will be staying at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul to continue their domestic activities.
