‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) will appear at the Genesis Invitational (total prize money of 20 million dollars) to be held in the US next week.
Woods announced on his SNS on the 11th (Korean time) that he was ready to participate in the PGA Tour next week. And he clearly revealed that his comeback stage was the Genesis Invitational by linking to the tournament.
Woods will appear in an official tournament 7 months after the Open in July last year. Of course, I participated in an event competition held last December, but it has been a long time since I have appeared in a regular tour competition.
Woods, who had been working on rehabilitation after a car accident in 2021, has only participated in some competitions to adjust his condition. However, he could not recover his former performance and continued to show only sluggishness.
Woods said at a press conference in the past, “My goal is to go to one or two more tournaments in 2023 besides major tournaments.” The first step is the Genesis Invitational hosted by his foundation.
With Woods’ comeback match, the eyes and ears of golf fans around the world are expected to turn to the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, USA from the 16th.
The Genesis Invitational, where the emperor returns, will be broadcast live through JTBC Golf and JTBC Golf & Sports.
